Flooring Series: Expert Insights

Trevor’s Carpets answer your most asked questions

Welcome to part two of our flooring series, covering everything you need to know when making the right flooring selections for your home. We recognise that choosing the best type of flooring for each area of your home is no easy feat. That’s why we’ve done the hard work for you, sourcing the right information from experts in the industry.

Earlier this week we introduced you to our expert Alan from Trevor’s Carpets, where we answered a couple of your most asked flooring queries. We had so much valuable information to share with you, that we’ve extended our flooring Q&A – so let’s get started!

What are the pros & cons of hybrid flooring?

Hybrid flooring combines the best traits of luxury vinyl and traditional laminate flooring, along with exciting innovations that make it a durable, versatile and stylish option. Alan breaks down the pros and cons of this popular flooring option;

Pros:

  • Extremely durable
  • Waterproof
  • Thermally efficient
  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Brilliant value for money

Cons:

  • Limited possibilities relating to stairs
  • Can be tricky to replace a board if needed in the future

Tiles are said to be the most durable of all flooring for interiors, is this true?

There is no doubt tiles are a very durable flooring option, however every type of flooring has its place depending on the individuals needs and wants. Alan explains, “There really is a flooring for everyone, let’s use my own home as an example. As a family, we needed a durable flooring solution, but we hated the idea of grout lines. My wife found a beautiful rectified tile which gave us the strength and look we wanted but at a price point 3 – 4 times that of the timber look hybrid. Unlike a natural timber there isn’t really a resale value with most ceramics so we as a family couldn’t justify the spend.”

Tell us what is so significant about the new Polaris Pro range?

The versatile Polaris Pro vinyl plank range takes the look, feel and design of natural timber floors and adds a few extra touches. It is durable, easy to maintain and water-resistant.

Trevor’s Carpets are very excited to add Australian species of timber looks to the range coupled with the same high specifications we have come to love in the Polaris range. The colour bank definitely makes this range stand out from any others, “We thought we were onto a winner when we finalised the colours with the manufacturer but the customer engagement and feedback since launch has been nothing short of incredible. At such a sensible price point for its quality it ticks a lot of boxes,” says Alan.

So when it comes to choosing your flooring, remember to take your time, ask lots of questions, and provide your flooring professional with as much information as possible. The more they know about your home and needs, the better equipped they’ll be to help you find the best flooring solution.
