Forget the dining room table, creating a designated study nook for your home can make a huge difference to your mindset and productivity. With so many of us working from home, it’s more important now than ever to consider creating a designated work space within your home, and you don’t need a huge footprint to do it!

Location
When deciding where in your home to position your study nook, it is important to consider the existing architecture. The perfect spot for a simple desk and shelves may be a gap next to a built-in wardrobe or the landing of your staircase. Get the most out of your space by creating a multi-functional area that can be used for storage or to display your decor when not being used as a study.
Power & Lighting
Make sure to ensure you have adequate task lighting and power/charging outlets within your study nook. Lighting is especially important if the area does not receive a lot of natural light.
TIP: Position power points up high underneath the desktop so that cords can remain out of sight. A cable hole cut out with a cover can be fitted so that cords can be fed through.
Storage
When it comes to storage options with a small footprint, think vertically. Add shelving above or a small cabinet that can be tucked underneath the desk. Think about how you will be using this space; for example how many people will utilise it? Will a simple set of drawers do the trick or is a large filing system the key to keeping your space organised and clutter-free?

A stool is perfect for a nook that won’t be used for long periods of time as it can be stowed under the desk when not in use.
